How does the system work?

The solar panel (evacuated tubes or flat plate collector) usually situated on your roof, harnesses the suns energy and warms the anti-freeze liquid (glycol) which is being pumped around the system. In a normal domestic system, the glycol passes through your new hot water cylinder via a specially designed heat transfer coil. Your water warms accordingly.

How do we get our return?

Well, your boiler normally heats your water from incoming temperature to around 65˚C. The energy harnessed by the solar panels can warm your water up and replace the boilers workload. During the summer months don’t be surprised by 100% gains (your boiler not coming on). Overall you can expect to save 50-70% on the money you currently spend on heating your water.

And if your house had a solar powered water heating system, it would reduce your households Carbon Dioxide emissions and significantly increase the rating of your house in an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) check. Home Information Packs (HIPS) include an EPC, thus increasing the value of your property.
